Office of Foreign Assets Control

Country Reports on Terrorism
U.S. law requires the Secretary of State to provide Congress, by April 30 of each year, a full and complete report on terrorism with regard to those countries and groups meeting criteria set forth in the legislation. This annual report is entitled Country Reports on Terrorism. Beginning with the report for 2004, it replaced the previously published Patterns of Global Terrorism.

A series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by al-Qaeda, an Islamist extremist group, that occurred on the morning of September 11, 2001.

The 9/11 Commission Report
The public report released by the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (or the 9/11 Commission). The commission was chartered to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 attacks, including preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks. They also were to provide recommendations to guard against future attacks.
