U.S. House of RepresentativesTexas is divided into 36 districts with one representative from each for the U.S. House of Representatives.

Elected to a two-year term, each representative serves the people of a specific congressional district by introducing bills and serving on committees, among other duties.

Texas Senate

The Senate of Texas consists of one representative from each of the 31 districts in Texas.

Representatives are elected for 4 year, overlapping terms. Districts are divided based on census population. Houston itself, due to population, is divided into several different districts.

Each member represents a single district and serves in two-year terms.
