Request Books

Request Books & Pickup Appointment

Need a physical Library Book? Request the book for pickup at the Learning Center. 

Follow the steps below to request a book.

 

Get Your Library Barcode Number

  • You will need a library barcode to checkout library books.

  • If you have a Lone Star College Student ID from a previous semester, this will be the 14 digit barcode number on the back of the card.

  • If you are a new student or have never had a Student ID card, request a library barcode number online by completing the Barcode Request Form

Search the Library Catalog and find the book that you would like to request.

Step 2: Check the Book's Location

Check the availability for the book. 

If it is at North Harris, please proceed to Step 3a: Request a North Harris Library Book 

If it is at another location, please proceed to Step 3b: Request a Book from Another Library

Step 3a: Request a North Harris Library Book

  • Email your book request to the Librarians at NH-AskALibrarian@lonestar.edu
  • Give as much information as possible about the book(s). (A screenshot or a link to the library catalog is good too.)
  • In your email, please be sure to include your Name, Student ID number, & Library Barcode number
  • The Library team will reach out and let you know when the book is available for you to pickup in the Learning Center.

Requesting Books from Other Libraries

Step 3b: Request a Book from Another Library for Pickup at North Harris

Need a library book from another location? Use the Library Catalog to place a hold for the book.

Please note: Due to the current situation, it may take longer for holds to be fulfilled. Please allow yourself plenty of time when requesting books.

Step 4: Schedule an Appointment for Pick Up

Step 4: Make an Appointment to Pick Up Your Book

  • When your book is ready for pickup, you will receive an email with instructions to make an appointment to pick up the book in the Learning Center.
  • Come to the Learning Center at the designated time for your appointment
  • Be sure to bring your Student ID/Library Card or a government issued Photo ID (e.g. Driver's license, Texas State ID, or passport)
  • Let the person at the Service Desk know that you are picking up a book. 

Returning Books

Returning Library Books

Please do NOT return your library books to the Learning Center.

Instead, all library books can be returned to the Book Drop outside of the Library Building.

All returned materials will be quarantined for 7 days, following recommended guidelines, before returning to circulation. Please note that a returned item may remain on your library record until the end of the quarantine period.
